### What’s This All About?

Calendar View presents your month-long schedule in a familiar calendar format. This intuitive yet powerful tool enables you to plan ahead, manage your availability, and easily identify scheduling gaps.

With Calendar View, you can effortlessly track when you're working (or not), recognise patterns in your availability, and promptly respond to new shift offers.

---

## Setup / What You’ll Need First

Before using Calendar View:

- ✅ Access to *My Roster* in ShiftMatch (web version)
- ✅ An active login
- ✅ Permissions to view and respond to shifts
- ✅ Availability and/or existing rostered shifts

💡 *Tip:* Having your availability already up to date will make this view even more useful.

---

## Step-by-Step Instructions

### 1. Open Calendar View

- Navigate to the **My Roster** page.
- Click on the **Calendar View** icon in the top-right corner, adjacent to the Roster and Kanban icons.
- A complete month of shifts will now be displayed in a traditional calendar format.

---

### 2. Understand the Calendar Layout

Each day appears as its own square. Shifts are shown as colour-coded blocks:

- 🟥 **My Availabilities** – You’ve offered to work
- 🟧 **Work Requests** – You’ve been specifically requested
- 🟩 **Confirmed** – You’re booked for this shift
- 🟦 **Open Roster** – Available for you to pick up

Click on any day to view shift details in the right-hand panel.

---

### 3. Take Action

From within Calendar View, you can:

- ✅ Add or edit your availability (top-right corner)
- ✅ Accept or decline work requests
- ✅ Pick up open roster shifts
- ✅ Use filters (top-left) to customise your view

> 📝 *Note:* Filters allow you to show or hide different shift types — helpful if the view feels too busy.

---

### 4. Use the Navigation Tools

- **Today** – Instantly jumps back to the current date
- **Left/Right Arrows** – Move backward or forward by month
- **Forward Planning** – Lets you view shift opportunities beyond the current calendar month

---

### **What You Can Do in This View (and All Views)**

No matter which view you’re in (Roster, Calendar, Kanban), you can:

- ✅ **Add or edit availability **always there in the top right. Don’t worry, more on Forward Planning here. [https://shiftmatch.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KB/pages/2739241083](https://shiftmatch.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KB/pages/2739241083)
- ✅ **Accept or decline work requests **

- ✅ **Pick up open shifts **
- ✅ **Use the top-left filters** to hide or show:

So if your screen feels a bit busy, just toggle off what you don’t need for now.

## ** Helpful Hints & Troubleshooting**

| Problem | Likely Cause | Solution |
| --- | --- | --- |

| Can’t click on a shift | May not have permissions | Contact your manager or system admin |
| Colours seem incorrect | Custom theme or styling issue | Refresh your browser or refer to your legend |

## FAQ

**Can I change the view to weekly instead of monthly?**
No — Calendar View is a fixed month layout. Try Roster View for weekly visibility.

**Why are some days blank?**
You may not have any shift activity on those days, or your filters are hiding them.

**Is this available on the mobile app?**
Not yet — Calendar View is only available via the web browser interface.

> ℹ️ ### **Real-Life Tip**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ Use this view to find patterns: Are you overcommitted? Are you under-booked? Did you forget to put in availability next week? It’s all here — laid out like a calendar (because, well… it is one).
